چکیده

Plastic pollution is one of the most serious environmental issues, causing severe damage. It vital importance to find an efficient and eco-friendly approach biodegrading plastics. The aim this study was isolate characterize different bacterial isolates from water samples in Al-Ahsa region Saudi Arabia. ability degrade low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plastic evaluated using multiple approaches, including changes media pH values, weight loss, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS). were collected plastic-contaminated sites Al-Ahsa, obtained a mineral nutrient medium (MNM) enriched with LDPE as only carbon energy source. Two (APCK5 APCZ14) they showed potential degradation, evidenced by (from 7.0 ± 0.03 6.17 0.05 6.22 0.03), reduction (8.1 0.63% 18.85 0.96%, respectively), FTIR GC–MS analyses. Based on 16S rRNA gene similarities, APCZ14 APCK5 determined be closely related genus Brucella. exhibited 99.48% homology Brucella cytisi, whereas 99.33% similarity level tritici. In conclusion, both strains had high efficiency biodegradation could developed for wide use method remove or reduce pollutants environment.

This report constitutes the first study of Culicoides spp. and their seasonal abundance at Al-Ahsa, the largest oasis in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. New Jersey light traps were used to collect the midges at Mastock farm and Al-Mansura village. The mean monthly abundance was determined from October 1993 to October 1994. The mean monthly number per trap reached its minimum value during ...
